24 <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that <br /> Resolution No. 91-14 be adopted, approving the name "Pleasanton <br /> Senior Center" for the proposed senior center, as set forth in the <br /> Staff Report. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Item 12b <br /> Review of the Downtown Studies Affecting Parking, Roadway <br /> Alignments and Landscaping <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 91:31) regarding the <br /> matter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta stated that staff's intention is to present the <br /> issues at this time and that Council recommendations would then be <br /> referred to the different Committees. <br /> <br /> Mar. Stanley Rathbone, 325 Ray Street, indicated that he was <br /> opposed to the extension of Railroad Avenue and suggested that <br /> locust trees be planted on Main Street. He added that the proposed ' <br /> improvements would not serve the purpose of preserving the downtown <br /> and suggested that the funds be used for the water mains on Main <br /> Street instead. <br /> <br /> Ms. Scribner proposed that a task force be formed, composed of <br /> a Councilmember, a Planning Commissioner, a representative from the <br /> Pleasanton Downtown Association, a representative from the <br /> Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, two downtown merchants, two <br /> property owners and other interested parties, to review the studies <br /> with the community and bring the recommendations back to the <br /> Council. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer agreed that Ms. Scribner's proposal was good and <br /> appointed Ms. Scribner to the task force. <br /> <br /> Mr. Luis Cortez, 4314 Railroad Avenue, indicated that his <br /> property was involved in the proposed street improvements and <br /> inquired what the City's plans are. <br /> <br /> - 10 - <br /> 1-22-91 <br /> <br /> <br />
