135

business to support herself. She continues to enjoy the advantage
of having relatively affordable housing in Pleasanton. She
accumulated enough money over four years so that she was able to
purchase her first home (townhouse) this year and is now renovating
it.

Susan Solice, 278 W. Angela, stated that she is a single
parent who receives no child support. She is a professional
probation officer for Alameda County. She needs affordable
housing. She rents a house in Pleasanton. She would like to raise
her children in one place. She makes a decent salary but' half of
her money goes to rent. She is in favor of lower income housing
for single parents like herself.

Janis Christiolis, 1484 Creekwood Court, indicated she is a 25
year resident of Pleasanton and supports this project. She is on
the Affordable Housing Task Force. She has visited other Robertson
projects and is very impressed with the project and the management
of it. She hopes that Council supports this project.

Robert Cortz, 262 W. Angela, stated that he is a member of the
Affordable Housing Committee and also a member of the Affordable
Housing Task Force. He spoke highly of this project. Robertson
and Prudential will not be absentee owners and will keep this a
quality place.

Richard Riley, 5576 Sonoma Drive, member of the Affordable
Housing Task Force and President of Pleasanton City Employees
Association. He does not believe that there is enough being done
for people who are on the lower pay scale within this community.
He has seen the Robertson developments and feels that they are very
well developed and managed. He encouraged the Council's support of
the project.

Larry Jackson, 4106 W. Las Positas, spoke in opposition to
this project. In 1980 it was promised that this would be a
Business Park. The people of Pleasanton were enticed to vote in
favor of making this a Business Park. There was no housing
mentioned. Prudential promised that 30% of employees in this
Business Park would come from the City of Pleasanton. Today
Council is being told that because of mismanagement and a failure
to plan, affordable housing must be.put in the Business Park to
keep the Business Park going. They are asking the City Council to
underwrite their own mismanagement. If this is the case, he is
asking the Council to underwrite his own business because he has
had a bad year. The City Council represents the citizens of
Pleasanton, not Prudential or developers. The people have voted
that they want this only to be a Business Park. If the Council
approves this project then he recommends a referendum and let the
people of Pleasanton vote on it.

12/10/91 9
