Meetinq Open to the Public <br /> <br />Girl Scouts of America, Troop 1831, Civic Awareness Program <br /> <br /> Brenda Hankins and Jennifer Johnson of the Girl Scouts, <br />Troop 8231 made a presentation. Miss Hankins stated that they were <br />working towards the highest award a Scout could earn, the Gold <br />Award. They would like to introduce a project for Amador High <br />School students to be able to shadow City employees in the work <br />place. All departments in the City have indicated their support of <br />this project. <br /> <br /> Miss Johnson added that the Scouts have gotten a good response <br />from students and have been encouraged by their teachers. They are <br />aware of other cities who have used this project successfully. <br /> <br /> Members of the Council congratulated them on their effort and <br />hard work that went into this project. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Butler, and seconded by Ms. Scribner, that <br />Council approve the proposed Gold Award program. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Amador Booster Club <br /> <br /> Mr. Bruce Bird, on behalf of the Amador High Athletic Booster <br />Club, thanked Council for its support of the project for a new <br />restroom and snack bar facility which is now complete. He <br />understood that the City and the School District have met to assure <br />the facility is open and usable for City activities. This project <br />brought a lot of people together; there were approximately 2500 <br />hours donated, as well as $20,000 in materials by local businesses. <br />He looks forward to working with the City'again in future projects. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer congratulated Mr. Bird. He stated that what has <br />been accomplished is an example of how the School District, the <br />City and the citizens can work together to build a project like this. <br /> <br />11/19/91 <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
