205 Debbie Theodore, 374 West Angela Street, spoke in support of allowing the pig to continue to reside at Ms. Juarez's property. She stated that "Wilbur" did not smell and was not in any way an annoyance. There had been no complaints by the neighbors. Mayor Mercer believed that pigs and any other farm animals did not belong in a residential area. He stated that most of these types of animals did create a smell and draw flies etc. He did not support changing this ordinance'. Ms. Mohr felt that the ordinance should not be changed. She understood that some pigs make good pets but she was concerned with allowing all pigs in Pleasanton. She did not feel that it would be right to allow Wilbur but not any other pigs. Ms. Scribner stated that these types of animals were not appropriate in residential areas. She did not wish to change the ordinance. Mr. Tarver agreed with the comments of the other Councilmembers. He stated that it was unfortunate that the pig grew too large to keep in Ms. Juarez's home. It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that Resolution No. 92-83 be adopted, directing staff not to prepare such a Code amendment; and confirming Council's support to leave the Code as it is currently, which precludes pigs in residential neighborhoods.
