CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS Ms. Scribner reported that the Downtown Task Force was making progress. She indicated that all of the Councilmembers received a copy of the Task Force's preliminary report and that the report has been widely circulated. The Chamber of Commerce had created a committee to evaluate the report and give a recommendation. The Downtown Association had an informal committee evaluating this report also. The Task Force is now in the process of going through the concerns from the merchants and citizens regarding the construction of Main Street. All the meetings have been well attended. The Task Force would like to offer a presentation at a joint session with the Planning Commission and the City Council. Council agreed to schedule a joint meeting in March. 10. MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION Item 10a Ordinance No. 1536, Reqardinq Notice to Local Professional Services Firms (5R92:37) Mr. Tarver preferred the use of local consultants to be an informal policy for staff to utilize when possible. Ms. Acosta indicated that the drafted ordinance, as prepared by staff, did not require the use of local firms. It does require staff to advertise for local firms. It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mr. Tarver, that Ordinance No. 1536 be introduced, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, approving an ordinance of the City of Pleasanton amending Section I (Part) of Ordinance 1524 and Sections 2.48.020, 2.48.050 and 2.48.060 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code concerning an annual notification to local professional firms and requiring active solicitation of local firms unrepresented or under-represented on rotational lists of professional firms. 1/2 /92 15
