CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR Ms. Acosta reminded Council that there will be a Special Joint City Council/School Board meeting on July 13, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Tarver pointed out that the July 21, 1993 LAVWMA meeting was moved to July 28, 1993. Mayor Tarver also noted that the Mayor' s Conference is July 7, 1993 at the Fairgrounds. Ms. Acosta explained the activities that are held at the Mayor's Conference. Mr. Pico indicated that the July CMA meeting was canceled and a special meeting will be held July 29, 1993 if necessary. 10. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNC!LIvIF~MBERS Item 10a Desi_tn Review Process llternative~ (SR93:280) Mr. Swift presented the staff report. In response to Mr. Pico questions, Mr. Swift reiterated process that would be used for Hacienda Business Park project (outside consultant). There was considerable discussion on the professional independent consultants, conflict of interests, and local and out of town consultants services. Ms. Acosta confirmed that any local architect could be used for consultant services if he/she agreed not to do business in Pleasanton. Ms. Mohr felt that the description regarding local architects needed to be clarified. Mr. Swift explained that staff was hoping that two or three individuals be retained by the City for design consultation. It was moved by Ms. Mohr to direct staff to prepare a draft ordinance for review by the Planning Commission and City Council which would modify the design review process to include informal review by design professionals acting as consultants to staff; and to contact non- local architects and landscape architects to be retained by the City for design consultation for sensitive or controversial projects and to contact architects/landscape architects who would agree to volunteer their design review services for less complex projects. 07/06/93 11
