" u. Adopt Resolution No. 99-115, authorizing settlement of pending
Workers' Compensation claims. (SR 99:270)

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

A presentation was made to the Council by Ellen Pensky and Brad Tucker, Co-
Chairs with the City of Pleasanton and the Chamber of Commerce for 1999 Technology
Market Place. This interactive event will occur Tuesday, October 19, 1999 from 11:30 a.m.
to 7:00 p.m. at the Alameda County Fairgrounds Satellite Racing Facility. For more details
people may contact the Chamber of Commerce by telephone (925/846-5858) or on its
website (www.pleasanton.org).

A presentation was made to the Council by Tom O'Malley regarding the Tri-Valley
Vision Project of the Tri-Valley Business Council. He described the composition of the
group and the subcommittees and the mechanism by which it determined what values were
wanted for the region and how to measure accomplishments. Seven key elements were
identified for the vision: economic vitality, open space/agricultureand quality environment,
vital centers in connected neighborhoods, housing choices for people of various incomes,
regional mobility and transportation networks, educational opportunities, and regional
collaboration to accomplish the vision. He described each of the areas and indicated the
committee is still seeking input in these areas. He then presented the action plans for the
first few years of this project. He asked for more people to join the committees: education,
transportation, open space, community planning, economic vitality. Interested parties could
contact him at 890-1892.

Ms. Dennis indicated she was working on the open space committee and related the
experience and discussions to date. She reiterated this is an open process and encouraged
members of the community to attend the meetings and participate.

Ms. Ayala referred to the initiatives pending in various Tri-Valley cities and asked if
this posed any problems in regard to possible changes to the various General Plans.

Mr. O'Malley said the committee started last October before the initiatives and it
will continue on its current path. Regional cooperation is very important.

Ms. Ayala was interested in the neighborhood aspects of this vision and the concept
of neighborhood schools and gathering centers.

Mr. O'Malley said the concept is important and referred to recent development plans
that included neighborhood shopping and gathering places. The committee is searching for
good examples to be presented to the community to demonstrate what this vision is trying
to accomplish.

Pleasanton City Council 4 09/07/99
Meeting
