It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Vice Mayor Ayala, to introduce
Ordinance No. 1783, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof,
approving the application of the City of Pleasanton for prezoning, as filed under
Case RZ-99-03.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Michelotti, Pico and Vice Mayor Ayala.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Dennis and Mayor Tarver.
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6c
Review of the Pleasanton Traffic Model and approval of 1998 Baseline Traffic
Report. (SR99:167)

This item was continued indefinitely.

Item 6d
Matters relating to the Livermore Amador Valley Water Management Agency's
(LAVWMA} export pipeline alignment through Pleasanton. (SR99:159)

Randall Lum presented the staff report.

Ms. Michelotti said residents had concems with the destruction of the present
trees. She did not have a problem with the original alignment that was proposed. She
asked staff to address what would happen if the new pipeline is put within the parking lot
area away from the trees.

Mr. Lum said LAVW1VIA has indicated that in order to avoid damage to the trees
it will seek an expanded easement to put the new pipeline in the parking lot. The existing
pipeline runs directly under the trees. LAVW1VIA has indicated it believes it can place
the jacking pits between the trees to avoid damage to the trees and that the number of
jacking pits will be limited.

Ms. Michelotti asked how long the original lining was supposed to last?

Mr. Lum said it was supposed to have lasted forty to fifty years but lasted only
twenty years.

Ms. Michelotti was concemed that the installation of the pipeline would have a
significant impact on the Stoneridge Mall and was glad to see it moved to the parking
area. She also had a problem with relining a pipe that has failed. She did not have a
problem going back to the original plan, as long as all the trees are not tom out, and the
disruption is kept to a minimum. She asked staff to explain how deep the pipe is placed
under Foothill Road.
