Item 10b <br />Review and adopt Draft Economic Development Strategic Plan (SR94:216) "- <br /> <br /> Ms. Gilpin presented the staff report and played the Economic Development video for <br />Council and the audience. <br /> <br /> Nathan Meeks, 6387 Paseo Santa Maria, Co-Chair of the Chamber of Commerce's Video <br />Committee, thanked Council for its participation and funding for this Economic Development <br />Video. He was very pleased with the outcome of the video. This video is the first step in the <br />strategic plan for economic development in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Frank Berlogar, 5587 Sunol Boulevard, commended Ms. Gilpin for her hard work and <br />dedication to this Plan. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr agreed and added that the Committee has been committed to the Plan and felt <br />that Gail was the lead person coordinating this program. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked Ms. Gilpin to consider the following suggestions to enhance the <br />program: 1) turning North Pleasanton Improvement District from a negative to a positive; 2) <br />enhancing the connection between the Chamber of Commerce, business community, Convention <br />& Visitors Bureau and the public; 3) aggressively pursing of the work program and the budget <br />for this process; and 4) cooperating on a sub-regional basis. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis was very impressed with the program. She encouraged the Committee to <br />continue to communicate with the Tri-Valley cities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico commended the Committee for the work that has been done. He cautioned staff <br />to not go overboard in looking at the issue of economic development and benefits of economic <br />development at all costs. <br /> <br /> Ms. Scribner added that it was important to be sensitive to needs of surrounding <br />communities. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, adopting the Draft <br />Economic Development Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />The r011 Call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />07/05/94 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
