Item 10b Review and adopt Draft Economic Development Strategic Plan (SR94:216) "- Ms. Gilpin presented the staff report and played the Economic Development video for Council and the audience. Nathan Meeks, 6387 Paseo Santa Maria, Co-Chair of the Chamber of Commerce's Video Committee, thanked Council for its participation and funding for this Economic Development Video. He was very pleased with the outcome of the video. This video is the first step in the strategic plan for economic development in Pleasanton. Frank Berlogar, 5587 Sunol Boulevard, commended Ms. Gilpin for her hard work and dedication to this Plan. Ms. Mohr agreed and added that the Committee has been committed to the Plan and felt that Gail was the lead person coordinating this program. Mayor Tarver asked Ms. Gilpin to consider the following suggestions to enhance the program: 1) turning North Pleasanton Improvement District from a negative to a positive; 2) enhancing the connection between the Chamber of Commerce, business community, Convention & Visitors Bureau and the public; 3) aggressively pursing of the work program and the budget for this process; and 4) cooperating on a sub-regional basis. Ms. Dennis was very impressed with the program. She encouraged the Committee to continue to communicate with the Tri-Valley cities. Mr. Pico commended the Committee for the work that has been done. He cautioned staff to not go overboard in looking at the issue of economic development and benefits of economic development at all costs. Ms. Scribner added that it was important to be sensitive to needs of surrounding communities. It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, adopting the Draft Economic Development Strategic Plan.
