Item 10f <br />Consideration of a request to dedicate as a memorial and to name the Hopyard <br />Road/Pleasanton canal foot bridge "Children's Bridae" (SR94: 199) <br /> <br /> John Bartlett, a Pleasanton resident, briefly explained the reason why his family had <br />made this request and the history of the bridge. He wanted the community to be aware that <br />there are projects that have been done in order to prevent incidents from happening in the future <br />to children. <br /> <br /> Lea Bellinger, 4219 Graham Street, thanked Mr. Bartlett for his work on this project and <br />Council for considering this plaque. It has meant a lot to her and her family. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to approve the request to <br />name the footbridge at Hopyard Road and the Pleasanton Canal "Children's Bridge", to direct <br />staff to work with Mr. Bartlett and other interested citizens to design a plaque for the bridge and <br />to encourage Mr. Bartlett to solicit additional donations. <br /> <br />The r011 tall vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarvet reminded the audience that the Centennial Celebration festivities are <br />beginning. Schedules of events are available throughout the City.
