It could not validate the survey.

Mr. Bocian thought that the consultants would most likely want samples to be given out
after the phone survey has been conducted.

Mr. Pico asked if staff had considered combining the School District's survey with the
City's.

Ms. Acosta stated that staff has briefly spoken to the School District. The concern would
be creating a survey that is too cumbersome.

Shelby Maxtin, Plea._~nton Chamber of Commerce, 777 Peters Avenue, supported
surveying the business community as well as the residents.

It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, authorizing staff to draft
and execute an agreement with J. D. Franz Research to conduct a community survey for a cost
not to exceed $21,500; surveys are to be taken from residents and business owners.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Mohr, Pico, Scribner and Mayor Tarvet
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

02/01/94 11
