5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The Council made a presentation to numerous Kaleidoscope Honorees.

Mr. Pico stated that the Tri-Valley Sports Hall of Fame had its inception in 1991 with
a goal to recognize a broad spectrum of outstanding athletic accomplishments that demonstrate
either extraordinary athletic ability and/or significant contributions to the Tri-Valley area.

The oath of office was administered to James Paxson as a new Economic Development
Advisory Committee Member. Mr. James Paxton then introduced himself as the General
Manager for the Hacienda Business Park Owners Association, and stated he was pleased to be
working with the community.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 6d
Request to process a General Plan Amendment for a 7.57+ acre parcel located between
Black Avenue and Hartsen Drive (adiaeent to Hap. sen Park) independent from the General
Plan UPdate. (SR95: 146)

Mr. Swift presented the staff report.

Greg Evans, 5610 Paseo Navarro, stated that Council should not rezone the Del Prado
site for residential development. He felt that the site is needed for an elementary school and
hoped the Council would not allow the School District to determine land use policy for the City.

Janet Yarbrough, 4560 Eull Court, stated she felt the Del Prado issue had been over-
discussed. Ms. Yarbrough felt building the Stoneridge School was appropriate with all the new
housing and business development taking place in that area. She felt that the monies gained
from the sale of Del Prado will allow more opportunities for the children attending Walnut
Grove and she hoped that the Council would vote to change the General Plan and allow the
rezoning of the property.

Dave Griffith, 5622 Paseo Navarro, talked about the School Board meeting on June 8.
He felt wrong assumptions had been made by the District with the figures from the
demographer. He also felt that the meeting had not given the community enough time to express
its feelings and felt the question/answer booklet being released by the District did not answer
the questions brought to the School Board. He then stated that he would like the Council not
to make a decision at this time but to go through the process until all questions are answered.

06/20/95 -4-
