CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-82 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION DETERMINING METHOD FOR STAGGERING CITY <br /> COUNCILMEMBER TERMS EQUALLY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at its meeting of February 16, 1988, Council reviewed <br /> the report of the City Attorney (SR 88:63) regarding the <br /> options available for establishing equal staggering of <br /> City Councilmember terms; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: At the next election, City Council terms shall be <br /> readjusted so two councilmember positions come up for <br /> election every two years, and the candidate who receives <br /> the least votes of the three candidates elected in <br /> November 1988 shall serve a two year term. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED FEBRUARY 16, 1988 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and <br /> Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None /;~~ <br /> ATTEST: ' <br /> <br /> KENN~ETH'~.
