The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, Pico, and Mayor Tarvet NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Mayor Tarver received a letter asking the Council to oppose the transport of nuclear waste/fuel to the Naval Weapons Center. The letter states that the route used is the 680 corridor to Interstate 5. He felt the matter was very controversial. Mayor Tarver stated that he will be out of town from June 16 through June 25; and from July 1st through July 7, 1995. He asked Mr. Pico to attend the meetings that were scheduled in his absence. Mayor Tarver also stated that he has received multiple calls on letters that were sent out by the Fire Department about inspection fees for hazardous materials. People are upset about it since they have to go through various agencies to inspect the premises and have asked him why they have to pay the Fire Department for their services. Ms. Acosta said she would look into the matter and see if there is a duplication of service and fees. Mayor Tarver requested an expansion of the Economic Development Advisory Committee membership. Ms. Michelotti stated that the subcommittee is well attended by the participants and even though this is a large group, the work is really done in the subcommittees. She suggests bringing it up at the Commission's quarte~y meeting and see if it would like to add additional members. Ms. Acosta stated that the Commission has already said it doesn't want more members, but the meetings are open to the public to give input. There was no consensus to consider this matter further at this time. Mayor Tarver asked to pursue the formation of the Youth Commission. Ms Acosta stated there will be a report to Council before summer ends discussing a variety of alternatives. Ms. Dennis stated that she will be on vacation July 10-20, 1995. 06/06/95 26
