The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, Pico, and Mayor Tarver NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Task Force Ms. Dennis felt there is concern in the community about air quality and was not sure we should delete this. Environmental Impact Reports always indicate there is an impact on air quality and nothing ever gets done. Ms. Mohr indicated we used to have an Environmental Monitoring Task Force and it ceased to exist because there was not enough for the Task Force to do. Ms. Michelotti pointed out that staff is getting reports from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, which monitors this regularly. She felt that was sufficient. Mr. Tarver agreed the information has been provided, however, he was not certain the information was used as well as it could have been. Ms. Acosta indicated the question is really whether a committee should be created that requires staff support, minutes, etc. or is Council really concerned about getting the best information on air quality. That can be done in a variety of ways besides a separate committee. It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Ms. Mohr, to adopt the Planning Commition recommendation to delete Program 8.4 on page IX-12, which reads as follows: "Create a task force to advise the City Council regarding compliance with air quality standards, new technologies for air quality control, and concepts of improving air quality." COMMUNITY CHARACTER ELEMENT SOCial Decisions It was moved by Mr. Tarvet, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to modify page X-l, paragraph 2, sentence 1, to read as follows: "Pleasanton's community character is the physical reflection of its location, setting, and numerous design decisions made over time." 07/09/96 -29-
