Chief Eastman indicated it would not be dealt with in the ordinance. It would be handled <br />as it is now. Sometimes a parent is traveling and the juvenile is released to an older sister. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr referred to comments from parents that 'it will do the kid good to sit there <br />for a while.' Does that occur? If they feel that way, it seems they should pay for it. <br /> <br /> Chief Eastman agreed. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver's only concern was the reasonableness of the administration but had <br />confidence the police department would be cautious. There is aim an appeal process to handle <br />differences of opinion on appropriateness. <br /> <br /> Chief Eastman indicated the department has had very few appeals on its actions. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Micheloff, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to introduce Ordinance <br />1680, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, mending the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code regarding cost recovery for extended detention of juveniles in the custody <br />of the Police Department. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />04/16196 <br /> -24- <br /> <br /> <br />
