Mr. Tarver presented the possibility of hiring a project manager for the Aquatic Center <br />and Tennis Complex. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta indicated staff could bring back a report. <br /> <br />5, MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> lack Dove, 3263 Vineyard Avenue,//114, spoke in support of a golf course on the San <br />Francisco property and presented evidence of the community desire for the golf course. <br /> <br /> Katrine Wilson, 6518 Via San BIas, and Christina Nystrom, 3660 CaneIll Court, <br />indicated the Amador Civics Class had won the state civics competition and requested funding <br />for the Amador Civics Class to go to Washington, D.C. to compete on a national level. The <br />total cost is $25,000. They were aware of the application process, but they need to have a <br />decision by March 1 lth. Donations can be sent to the Civics Nationals Fund, c/o Areadot High <br />School, 1155 Santa Rita Road, Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta explained the Council cannot make a decision at this meeting pursuant to <br /> state law. She explained the procedures for allocation of funding and suggested the Civics Class <br /> apply annually. The Parks and Recreation budget has $5,000 for subsidies ($200 per individual) <br /> for any activity in the community. At this time, staff would not recommend funding for the <br /> Amador Civics Class. She encouraged the community to make donations. <br /> <br /> There was not support from Council to place this on the next agenda. <br /> <br /> Chief Eastman gave a donation to the girls and Mr. Pico presented his hat to pass around <br /> the chambers for donations. <br /> <br /> Larry Norm, 1152 Autumn Court, spoke in support of the golf course on the San <br /> Francisco property. He asked members of the audience to stand who supported the golf course. <br /> Many did. <br /> <br /> Larry Roe 5846 Cone Brazos, referred to the proposal of the Fair Board to move the Bay <br /> Meadows Race Track activities to the Alameda County Fairgrounds. He reviewed the activities <br /> currently going on at Bay Meadows and felt this will be a major impact on Pleasanton. The <br /> fairgrounds facilities will be enlarged, traffic will increase, etc. He urged Council to take a <br /> stand on this early. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta indicated the city staff did not have the most current information. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarvcr requested this to be on an agencla at the appropriate time. It is difficult to <br /> respond to the newspapers and citizens when it does not have current information.
