transportation to downtown and with the golf course it would really bring money into the city.
He felt there was lot of money that could be generated for the city.

Mark Cau~eld, 3551 Norton Way, wanted one or more golf courses and some affordable
housing for young people to purchase. He volunteered his services for a committee to give input
regarding the golf course, since he is in the business.

Sondra Bierre, 980 Reisiing Drive, was concerned about commercial]office space on
Bernal Avenue. She did not like the fact that the Alameda County fairgrounds is not within the
city limits. She suggested a buffer along Bernal Avenue to maintain greenery. She was also
concerned about the schools. This plan provides an elementary school, but aren't the middle
schools and high schools already overcrowded? She wanted San Francisco to provide its own
schools or money to build on to other schools. Her third point was concern with traffic on
Bernal Avenue. She wanted no entry to the property from Bernal except for Valley and Case
Avenues.

Mr. Tarver corrected the speaker and stated the fairgrounds is within the City limits, so
the City can decide what would happen if the County wanted to develop the fairgrounds.

Lorelei Tolvtvar, 1993 Greenwood Road, felt development of this property would cause
more traffic, smog, and ruin the natural beauty of the open space. She also expressed concern
about the water. If there is a golf course, Pleasanton should have control of it. She agreed
there should be another middle school on the property as well as the elementary school. Her
solution was for San Francisco to dedicate the land as a natural park and leave the land as it is
or perhaps develop a wildlife museum. She also thought this a possible location for the
Renaissance Faire. She read an essay from an ll year old girl regarding this property.

Judith Fox, 3645 Virgin Island Court, was happy the cooperative planning is continuing.
She likes the current plan, however the elementary school is only on five acres. The Pleasanton
Unified School District has said five acres is not large enough for a school. The west side of
Pleasanton is already overcrowded. She wanted the school site to be larger on the Bernal
property. She also felt Pleasanton was low on institutional zoning for churches, schools, etc.

Mr. Tarver indicated there is a joint meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission
and Planning Commission coming up shortly and felt it would be appropriate for staff to develop
some alternatives to present.

Don Adams, 4 133 Stanley Boulevard, showed an overhead projection of his version of
the plan. He felt the view on Bernal was more important that what a driver on the freeway sees.
He proposed moving the commercial area near the freeway. The retail at the intersection of the
freeway would help traffic and address the needs of the residents on Foothill as far north as
Stoneridge. He felt townhomes in the area would also be appropriate. When north Pleasanton
was developed it was supposed to be offices and now there are residential homes. How do we
know what the San Francisco property will be like in twenty years? He wanted San Francisco

01/16/96 -10-
