MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE <br /> MEETING <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> October 21, 1997 <br /> <br />1, CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Ben Tarvet called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She reminded everyone there <br />is a School Board election November 4, 1997. She encouraged everyone to attend forums being <br />held at Mohr Elementary, on October 23, at 7:30 p.m.; at Pleasanton Middle School, on <br />October 27, at 7:00 p.m.; and at Foothill High School, on October 29, at 7:00 p.m. She also <br />congratulated Kathy Start, Mohr Elementary, for being selected Pleasanton Teacher of the Year. <br />She expressed her condolences for Rob McLaughlin's family. Rob was a former Pleasanton <br />police officer who was buried on October 20 after a long struggle with Lou Gehrig's disease. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico, <br />Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; <br />Michael H. Roush, City Attorney; Brian W. Swift, Director of Planning and Community <br />Development; Randall A. Lure, Director of Public Works; Bill van Gelder, City Traffic <br />Engineer; and Gail Gilpin, Economic Development Manager. <br /> <br /> AOENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> <br /> Item 4p, authorization to merge fire dispatch service with the City of Livermore, was <br />removed from the agenda by staff. <br /> <br />4.
