(SR97:55) <br /> <br /> City Manager Deborah Acosta presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> There was no discussion. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to put a measure on the <br />November 1998 ballot to eliminate the elected. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Vice Mayor Pico <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Tarvet <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Item 6d <br />Appeal by Mr. and Mrs. Gutierrez of the decision by the Public Works Director denyin? <br />permission for removal of a Heritage tree at 3590 Churchill CoUrt (SR97:47) <br /> <br /> Randall Lure presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked if this tree were a native California tree. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fulford said it was. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked if the tree was planted by the original owner. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fulford said he believed it was. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked how much pruning the tree could handle. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fulford said the ISA guidelines allow up to 20% of the tree's entire canopy to be <br />trimmed in any growing season. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis commented that a number of Sycamores that she noticed have been pruned <br />quite severely and have survived. <br /> <br /> Cele Gutierrez, 3590 Churchill Court, said that the tree was one of the selling points <br />when she bought this home. She made it clear she loves trees and respects the Heritage Tree <br />ordinance. She said she is not complaining about the routine leaf drop.
