MINUTES
OF
THE
MEETING
OF
THE CITY COUNCIL

January 7, 1997

1, CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Ben Tarver called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:05 p.m.

Ms. Ayala led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She then announced that a new
device had been installed for reminding speakers of the five minute time limit. Council
encourages participation but feels that limiting the time for each speaker will allow more people
to express their thoughts and allows the Council to get through the entire agenda by a reasonable
hour.

2. ROLL CALL

City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows:
Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico,
Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager;
Michael H. Roush, City Attorney; Brian W. Swift, Director of Planning and Community
Development; Randall A. Lum, Director of Public Works; and Dolores Bengtson, Director of
Parks and Community Services.

3.
