Ms. Dennis asked if the inside of the shop would be finished with sheet rock, insulation, <br />and drywall. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kerr said yes. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis suggested changing the design of the wall to open up to accommodate the <br />larger pieces of wood during nice weather. She had a problem making the findings for the <br />variance. She felt there would be a problem with setting a precedent. She said she would make <br />a motion to deny the appeal. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked staff if a motion had to be made to deny the appeal. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift said a motion had to be made. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Dennis, and seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to adopt Resolution <br />No. 98-133, denying the appeal and thereby upholding the decision of the Planning <br />Commission to approve the application of Rod and Barbara Kerr (AP-98-07) (V98-07 <br />/Z-98-162). <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Dennis and Michelotti. <br />NOES: Mayor Tarver <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Pico <br />ABSTAIN: Councilmember Ayala <br /> <br /> There was a break at 8:37 p.m. <br /> <br /> The meeting reconvened at 8:42 p.m. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked Michael Faber to give a presentation regarding "Make a Difference <br />Day." <br /> <br /> Michael and Alex Faber, 833 Abbie Street, made a presentation regarding "Make a <br />Difference Day" to be held October 24, 1998. He said this is a national event where everyone <br />gets together in the community to do something good. He said the City of Pleasanton is tieing <br />the event together with the annual Foothill Band review. A series of events will take place, one <br />of which will be a donated canned food drive. The Boy Scouts of America and the Faber <br />Family Trust will be feeding 150 seniors. Fifty of the seniors will be invited to the band review <br />and then the Boy Scouts will escort them to lunch. The Boy Scouts will also be going up and <br />down the streets collecting the food items. There is a $300 scholarship for the band that brings <br />the most food items. After the parade, the seniors will be fed and Council is invited to help <br />serve. After the luncheon there will be a series of events at the library. He listed many of the <br />organizations that are participating.
