MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE <br /> SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> June 30, 1998 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> Mayor Ben Tarver called the Special Budget Workshop/Council Meeting of the City <br />Council to order at 6:35 p.m. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico, <br />Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; <br />Steven Bocian, Assistant City Manager; Susan Rossi, Director of Finance; Randall A. Lum, <br />Director of Public Works; William Eastman, Chief of Police; and Stewart Gary, Fire Chief. <br /> <br />3. PRESENTATION REGARDING AWARD TO CITY OF PLEASANTON FOR <br /> "FINANCING OUR FUTURE" PROGRAM <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta presented brief remarks regarding Pleasanton's winning of an award from <br />the League of California Cities and introduced Ms. Rossi. <br /> <br /> Ms. Rossi described the award of excellence in financial management from the League <br />of California Cities. She said the award was given for the "Financing Our Future" Program that <br />was rounded on the economic and fiscal element of the Pleasanton General Plan. This was a <br />new element added to the General Plan in 1996. This element contains short and long term <br />fiscal strategies with the overall goal of maintaining financial stability. She explained the <br />objectives of the program and stated this program helps insulate the City' s Operating Budget and <br />Capital Improvement Program from any fluctuations in the general economy. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti commended the Finance Department for a job well done. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 1 06/30/98 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
