MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, expressed his concern about the Measure G
campaign process. He said there is a number of illegal signs around the community. He was
appalled that on the ballot the Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs Association claimed it supported
Measure G. He felt this represented a breach of trust within the community. He wondered if
the Councilmembers that supported Measure G would contribute to a registered mailing ensuring
the voters that the endorsements on the ballot measure as stated are not correct to the extent that
the voters should not be influenced by who signed the measure.

Ms. Michelotti assured Mr. Hovingh that his issues would be addressed.

Ted Crowton, 6013 Acadia Court, opposed the gun ban. He believed that the women
Of Pleasanton should have the right to carry firearms, have training available and should not be
fearful when they travel to and from their homes. He did not agree with Measure G. All laws
should be structured so the intent of the law is clearly known and cannot be interpreted wrongly
by the judiciary. He found it disturbing that there were so many organizations trying to disarm
the American society. Considerable time and money have been wasted on debating the wrong
issue. More time and energy should be spent on health organizations rather than giving grants
to organizations like Hand Gun Control. He said HMO's should be spending money on
providing health services for its patients and not supporting gun control.

Pleasanton City Council 5 05/19/98
Minutes
