Ms. Dennis asked if a heritage tree were crowding other trees, would it be considered <br />"endangering" the safety or the health of the other trees? <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said that would fail under good forestry practices and the removai of the <br />unhealthy tree would be allowed. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayaia asked if this had ever happened. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said not recently. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis asked if crowded trees would be ailowed to be thinned out, or did the trees <br />have to be dying? <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said the guidelines for pruning allowed certain actions to be taken for the health <br />of the trees. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti asked how the appeals board would be set up? <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said the Planning Commission would appoint two members and the Park and <br />Recreation Commission would appoint one member. Potentiaily, the board could meet prior to <br />a Planning Commission meeting. <br /> <br /> There was no public testimony. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Ayala, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, that Ordinance No. 1737, <br />be introduced, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, mending <br />Chapter 17.16 (Tree Preservation) of the Pleasanton Municipal Code with respect to <br />significant impact, f'mes and penalties; and creating a Heritage Tree Board of Appeals. <br />The roll cail vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayaia, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver. <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 02/03/98 <br />Minutes 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
