MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Tri-ValleV Convention & Visitors Bureau Annual Status Report (IR98:29)

Lisa Dial, Executive Director of the Tri-Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau, 260 Main
Street, gave a brief presentation of the organization's goals and accomplishments.

Mayor Tarver appreciated the status report because he liked to know how the money was
being spent and was impressed with the professional look of the brochures and pamphlets that
were being sent out.

Other Speakers

Debra Barker, 5018 Blackbird Way, opposed the injection of treated sewage into the
water supply. She felt the City of Pleasanton has a duty and a responsibility to protect the
public. The local sewer agency has a constricted sewer line, so only so much sewage can be
sent out at one time. The sewer agency has no intention of making the pipeline larger, so it
makes the sewage smaller by taking the liquids out. The sewer agency asked Zone 7 if it would
be interested in the cleaned up sewage water to inject into the groundwater basin. She attended
the meetings Zone 7 had on this issue. She said Zone 7 believes people are not interested
because of the lack of participation. There is a committee formed called the "Safe Water
Committee" which is fighting this issue, but there needs to be more support from the public.

Pleasanton City Council 5 08/18/98
Minutes
