provides fire and paramedic services. The City worked with the' Alameda County Sheriff's <br />Department to help clear the fairgrounds the evening of July 4. The City will be providing input <br />and recommendations to the Fairground Association. She said a meeting will be scheduled, after <br />the Fair is over, to discuss the event and to make recommendations. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti shared Councilmember Pico's comments. She said on Monday morning <br />she was in touch with Supervisor Scott Haggerty, who has expressed his viewpoint on the news. <br />He said there was an effort by all the agencies to evacuate the Fairgrounds in an orderly manner. <br />As a member of the Council's Fairgrounds Liaison Committee, she felt everyone was working <br />together to make the Fair a safe place to visit. <br /> <br />4. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Ms. Dennis, that the following actions <br />be taken on the Consent Calendar, with the changes noted: <br /> <br /> a. Approve the City Council Minutes for June 23, 1998. <br /> The minutes for June 16, 1998 were continued. <br /> <br /> b. Commend Ben Santer, a physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National <br /> Laboratory, for being named a recipient of the 1998 MacArthur Fellowship, for <br /> his work with his colleagues at the Lab's Program for Climate Model Diagnosis <br /> and Intercomparison in which they authored a portion of a United Nations report <br /> concluding that human activity had a discernible influence on global climate <br /> change, and which report now serves as a scientific foundation for international <br /> discussions on reducing greenhouse emissions. <br /> <br /> c. Approve the monthly disbursements in the amount of $5,023,814.79; approve the <br /> investment report; and the COPS AB3229 expenditures reports for May 1998. <br /> (SR98: 163) <br /> <br /> d. Adopt Resolution No. 98-91, approving the Pleasanton Downtown Business <br /> Improvement District Advisory Board Report and Budget for fiscal year 1999 and <br /> setting a public hearing date for the Intent levy of assessments for 1999 for July <br /> 21, 1998. (SR98:175) <br /> Councilmember Pieo abstained from this item. <br /> <br /> Steve Barlow, 1963 Foxswallow Circle, said he has been a member of the Pleasanton <br />Downtown Association since inception. As of tonight he would like to be released from the <br />obligations of the Business District.
