CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-207 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE EXISTING <br /> DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS PROGRAM IN <br /> ACCORDANCE WITH THE 1987 SURFACE <br /> TRANSPORTATION AND UNIFORM RELOCATION <br /> ASSISTANCE ACTAND SETTING THE CITY'S <br /> GOAL AT 10% <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1987 Surface Transportation and Uniform <br /> Relocation Assistance Act, hereinafter referred to <br /> as "Act", has required that all local agencies <br /> amend existing disadvantaged business "DB" program <br /> sin accordance with Act; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing on the <br /> proposed amendments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council as a result of the public hearing <br /> has established that: <br /> <br /> 1. The Act presumes that women are socially and <br /> economically disadvantaged individuals whose <br /> participation may be counted in attaining "DB" <br /> goals; and <br /> <br /> 2. As such, separate Woman Business Enterprise, <br /> "WBE", goals will no longer be used and the <br /> terms "DB" and "WBE" in the current adopted <br /> program shall be understood to mean "DB"; and <br /> <br /> 3. The Act requires a minimum goal of 10% for the <br /> new combined "DB" program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at the conclusion of the hearing, it was determined <br /> that the amendments to the City's disadvantaged <br /> business program will have a beneficial impact upon <br /> the safety and welfare of the community; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council does hereby approve the above <br /> amendments to the City's disadvantaged business <br /> program and set the "DB" goal for the City of <br /> Pleasanton at a minimum of 10%. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
