CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-392 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FUEL EFFICIENT <br /> TRAFFIC SIGNAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM GRANT <br /> APPLICATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton recognizes that it is in the <br /> interest of the national economy to promote the <br /> conservation of energy resources and to reduce our <br /> nation's dependence on costly foreign oil; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, fuel efficient traffic signal management by the <br /> City of Pleasanton will provide benefits to the <br /> local community in the form of improved traffic <br /> flow, reduced fuel consumption, reduced vehicle <br /> operating costs, reduced air pollutant emissions, <br /> and improved safety due to smoother flow; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funds have been established and are available <br /> through the California department of Transportation <br /> for grants to local governments for efficient <br /> traffic signal management projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding for staff training time, data collection <br /> and processing equipment was added to the 1988-89 <br /> Public Works budget for traffic signal <br /> optimization; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: That the Pleasanton City Council authorizes the <br /> submittal of an application to the California <br /> Department of Transportation for a Fuel Efficient <br /> Traffic Signal Management grant and the Director of <br /> Public Works and Utilities of the City of <br /> Pleasanton is hereby authorized and empowered to <br /> execute in the name of the City of Pleasanton all <br /> necessary applications, contracts, and agreements <br /> to implement and carry out the purposes specified <br /> in this resolution. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
