C. Tuition reimbursement shall not be received for any <br /> individual courses (or class) not successfully <br /> completed with a grade of "C" or better. <br /> <br /> D. Employees submitting requests for tuition reimbursement <br /> shall provide the Personnel Officer an official receipt <br /> from the college or university verifying the payment of <br /> tuition and an official transcript of the grades <br /> received for which tuition is requested. <br /> <br />19.9 Book Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Employees enrolled in the Educational Incentive Plan s~all be <br /> eligible for the reimbursement of the books required for those <br /> classes taken as part of their approved educational program. The <br /> amount reimbursed shall be the purchase price of the books less <br /> the monies received from their resale. No reimbursement for <br /> books shall be received for any class not successfully completed <br /> with a grade of "C" or better. <br /> <br /> Employees submitting requests for reimbursement for books shall <br /> submit to the Personnel Officer the original purchase receipt in <br /> addition to the receipt showing the monies received through <br /> resale of said books. <br /> <br /> If, however, the books are determined by the Personnel Officer to <br /> be an asset to the City, the Personnel Officer's decision <br /> regarding the purchase of text books shall be final. <br /> <br />Section 20. Probationary Perioa <br /> <br />20.1 Lenqth of Probationary Period <br /> <br /> Except as specified in Appendix A, original appointments shall be <br /> tentative and subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) <br /> months actual service. All promotional appointments shall be <br /> tentative and subject to a probationary period of twelve (12) <br /> months actual service. The City Council may by resolution <br /> establish a longer probationary period for specified classes. <br /> <br />20.2 Notification Requirement~ <br /> <br /> A probationary employee shall be notified by the Personnel <br /> Officer forty-five (45) days prior to the expiration date of <br /> his/her probationary period. <br /> <br /> Within twenty-one (21) days prior to the expiration date of the <br /> probationary period, the Department Head shall file with the <br /> Personnel Officer a statement as to whether or not the <br /> probationary employee shall be retained in the <br /> position. <br /> <br /> An employee who is not rejected prior to the completion of the <br /> prescribed probationary period shall be deemed to have passed <br /> the prescribed probation period automatically subject to the <br /> provisions of Section 20.3. <br /> <br /> - 33 - <br /> <br /> <br />
