CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-379 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ARGUMENTS AGAINST <br /> THE INITIATIVE MEASURE BY CITIZENS' <br /> GROUP <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 4015 of the Elections Code specifies that <br /> the persons filing an initiative petition may file <br /> a written argument in favor of the initiative and <br /> the Council may file an argument against the <br /> petition, or, if the Council does not exercise its <br /> option to submit an argument against the <br /> initiative, it may be submitted by an individual <br /> voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, any <br /> bona fide association of citizens, or any <br /> combination of the two; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Council authorizes arguments against the <br /> initiative measure on the November 8, 1988 ballot <br /> to be filed by a citizens' group. Said argument <br /> must be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on <br /> August 22, 1988. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED AUGUST 2, 1988 BY THE FOLLOWING <br /> VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Butler <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />~~j~aTEST: KENNETH R.
