CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-562 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SEARCH FOR A <br /> CONSULTANT TO IDENTIFY POTENTI~TJ~ <br /> HAZARDOUS BUILDINGS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Building Earthquake Safety Statute, Government <br /> Code §§8875, et seq., requires cities and counties <br /> in certain seismic zones within California to <br /> identify, by January 1, 1990, potentially hazardous <br /> buildings, as defined in the Statute, and to <br /> institute a mitigation program to reduce or <br /> eliminate these hazards; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, due to the somewhat specialized nature of <br /> identifying these buildings, and because other <br /> inspection work now conducted by city inspectors <br /> would be delayed if this study were undertaken by <br /> City staff; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are a number of consultants who could perform <br /> this work; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Council authorizes the Director of <br /> Inspection Service to contact several consultants <br /> qualified to perform this work for the City and <br /> then make a recommendation to the City Council for <br /> the City's hiring of a consultant to perform this <br /> work. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED DECEMBER 6, 1988 BY THE FOLLOWING <br /> VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br /> ABSTAIN: None TH~R.
