CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-522 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONSTRUCTION OF <br /> CITY OWNED GYMNASIUMS AT HARVEST MIDDLE <br /> SCHOOL AND PI~ASANTON MIDDLE SCHOOL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of November 1, 1988, the Director of <br /> Parks and Community Services presented a report <br /> (SR 88:519) to the City Council regarding the <br /> proposed Joint Gymnasium Project with Pleasanton <br /> School District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Pleasanton Unified School District will soon be <br /> constructing a new middle school campus, Pleasanton <br /> Middle School, and improving Harvest Park Middle <br /> School, and as part of the improvement, the <br /> District has planned gymnasiums on both campuses; <br /> and <br /> <br />Whereas, discussions have taken place regarding a proposed <br /> cooperative plan that would result in a double gym <br /> being placed on each of the campuses with the City <br /> paying for construction of the City gym and support <br /> facilities at an estimated cost of $5.1 million <br /> dollars; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Council supports the construction of two City <br /> owned gymnasiums, one on the Harvest Middle School <br /> Campus and one on the new Pleasanton Middle School <br /> Campus,if it is determined <br /> <br /> a. that adequate parking is available, <br /> <br /> b. that limitations to City use of the City owned <br /> gyms are reasonable as determined by staff, <br /> and <br /> <br /> c. that the City gymnasiums and support <br /> facilities constructed are built in the most <br /> cost effective manner while providing for <br /> adequate programming. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City Manager is instructed to bring back a <br /> funding mechanism to finance the projects. <br /> <br /> <br />
