CITy COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-520 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION 85, <br /> LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION BOND <br /> MEASURE ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988 BAT.T~T <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Proposition 85 asks votes to approve a $75 million <br /> general obligation bond issue to pay for the <br /> construction or renovation of public libraries; <br /> and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the state-wide need for library construction and <br /> renovation funds is estimated to be $800 million <br /> and Proposition 85 is a first step towards <br /> addressing that need; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this measure marks the first time ever that <br /> Californians have had the opportunity on the ballot <br /> to let their state legislators now that libraries <br /> matter; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton hereby <br /> expresses its support of Proposition 85, the <br /> Library Bond Measure, and urges its citizens to <br /> vote in favor of it. <br /> <br /> Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED NOVEMBER 1, 1988 BY THE FOLLOWING <br /> VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and <br /> Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None ~~ <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> ~TEST: f" ~ ~I ~~ KENNETH R.
