CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION 89-171 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE SAN. FRANCISCO BAY <br />· TRAIL...SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA'S RING AROUND THE <br /> / <br /> BAY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: the Bay Trail Plan proposes development of a <br /> regional hiking and bicycling trail around the <br /> perimeter of San Francisco and San Pablo Bays; and <br /> <br /> ~HEREAS: wren completed, the trail will reinforce the Bay <br /> Area's growing since of regionalism, bY creating <br /> friendlier, more human-scale connections between <br /> communities in the region; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: by connecting more than 90 parks and publicly- <br /> accessible open spaces around the Bay Area; <br /> providing access to a variety of "water trails" - <br /> ferries and boat launches around the Bay-- which <br /> will enable trail users to appreciate the Bay from <br /> both water and shoe; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS: establishing cross-Bay connections, using access <br /> across the Bay's seven major toll bridges to define <br /> a series of trail "loops" for outdoor enthusiasts <br /> of all abilities and interests. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />· RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> , Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br /> support creation of the San Francisco Bay <br /> Trail...San Francisco Bay Area's Ring Around <br /> the Bay. <br /> <br /> Section 2: Support the efforts of ABAG, in cooperation <br /> with more than 100 local, regional, State and <br /> Federal agencies, as well as recreation <br /> organizations and environmental interests from <br /> throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. <br /> <br /> <br />
