PLANNING COi~7MISSION <br />CITY OF PLEASANT ON <br />COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION N0. 2236 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF <br />TFIE DRAFT FIOUSING ELEMENT PREPARED AND FILED <br />UNDER CASE GP-82-8 <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission revised the Draft Revised <br />Housing Element of the General Plan of the City of <br />Pleasanton formulated pursuant to State Government <br />Code Section 65583 and State Housing Element Guidelines; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of this revised Element is to evaluate existing <br />and projected community housing needs and to offer a <br />workable housing program to meet said needs; and <br />WHEREAS, at their meeting of October 13, 1982 the Planning <br />Commission recommended adoption of the Negative Declaration <br />prepared for case GP-82-8; and <br />6QHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the original draft Element <br />several times over the last two years and the document was <br />initially revised to ..address the recommendations proposed at <br />the two public hearings before the Planning Commission in <br />July 1980; and <br />WHEREAS, the Element was further revised in response to the recommendations <br />expressed in the State Department of Housing and Community <br />Development's conditional approval of the Housing Element given <br />in December 1980; and <br />WHEREAS, the City did not continue the adoption process before City <br />Council because the Residential Allocation Program was about <br />to be revised and the proposed changes would have affected <br />numerous policies and text in the Element; and <br />WHEREAS, the new State law was about to be effective which would <br />alter some of the requirements of the Housing Element; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Staff recommended that the 1980 Census information <br />be included in this report to make the document as <br />current as possible. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: <br />Section 1. Recommends approval of the draft Housing Element <br />dated October 1982. <br />Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon <br />upon its passage and adoption. <br />
