CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 89-80 RESOLUTION ADDING AGENDA ITEM REGARDING POSSIBLE ELECTION ON REDEVELOPMENT PLAN WHEREAS, the City Council is to conduct a joint public hearing with the Community Development Agency on a Redevelopment Plan for Downtown Pleasanton; and WHEREAS, the City Council, after the close of said public hearing, is to consider the introduction of an ordinance adopting said Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, a number of taxpayers have expressed to the City Council that if said Plan is adopted, it should be approved by the voters of the City of Pleasanton; and WHEREAS, if the City Council should decide to submit the matter to the voters, it may be necessary to adopt a resolution calling for a special election; and WHEREAS, consideration of such a resolution was not set forth on the City Council agenda for February 21, 1989 because the idea of calling for such election was not given substantial consideration until after the February 21, 1989 agenda was posted; and WHEREAS, the Brown Act permits the Council to add an item to the agenda upon a two-thirds vote of the Council that the item arose after the time the agenda was posted; and WHEREAS, whether to adopt a resolution calling for a special election may be a critical decision for Council to make on February 21, 1989; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Based on the findings set forth above, a resolution to consider the calling of a special election for the Redevelopment Plan for Downtown Pleasanton is hereby added to the February 21, 1989 agenda for Council consideration and action, if necessary. Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
