CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 89-80 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ADDING AGENDA ITEM REGARDING <br /> POSSIBLE ELECTION ON REDEVELOPMENT PLAN <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is to conduct a joint public <br /> hearing with the Community Development Agency on a <br /> Redevelopment Plan for Downtown Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council, after the close of said public <br /> hearing, is to consider the introduction of an <br /> ordinance adopting said Redevelopment Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a number of taxpayers have expressed to the City <br /> Council that if said Plan is adopted, it should be <br /> approved by the voters of the City of Pleasanton; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, if the City Council should decide to submit the <br /> matter to the voters, it may be necessary to adopt <br /> a resolution calling for a special election; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, consideration of such a resolution was not set <br /> forth on the City Council agenda for February 21, <br /> 1989 because the idea of calling for such election <br /> was not given substantial consideration until after <br /> the February 21, 1989 agenda was posted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Brown Act permits the Council to add an item to <br /> the agenda upon a two-thirds vote of the Council <br /> that the item arose after the time the agenda was <br /> posted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, whether to adopt a resolution calling for a special <br /> election may be a critical decision for Council to <br /> make on February 21, 1989; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Based on the findings set forth above, a <br /> resolution to consider the calling of a special <br /> election for the Redevelopment Plan for Downtown <br /> Pleasanton is hereby added to the February 21, 1989 <br /> agenda for Council consideration and action, if <br /> necessary. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
