CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 89-76 <br /> <br /> ARESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FORT HE SAN <br /> FRANCISCO BAY AREA RIDGE TRAIL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bay Area is a special place to live, in large <br /> part because of the close interrelationship between <br /> cities and the magnificent open landscape of the <br /> region; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail will be sited along the <br /> ridgeline of the hills and mountains surrounding <br /> the Bay, going through all nine Bay Area counties <br /> and the Santa Cruz Mountains and offering an <br /> unparalleled opportunity to experience the region <br /> from the highest elevations; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the trail will serve the needs of hikers, <br /> equestrians, bicyclists, people with disabilities, <br /> joggers, families, and many others; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Bay Area can serve as a model for the nation <br /> showing how a major metropolitan region can <br /> capitalize on its most spectacular natural assets <br /> and bring to all its residents the opportunity to <br /> hike and ride close to their homes on trails and <br /> walkways; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br /> supports creation of the San Francisco Bay Area <br /> Ridge Trail, and supports the efforts of the public <br /> agencies, trails groups, private sector <br /> institutions, and individuals who are working <br /> through the Ridge Trail Council to bring this trail <br /> into reality. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective <br /> immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
