PLANNING COMMISSION
CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION NO. 2162
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION INITIATING
THE REZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES NOT CURRENTLY
IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, a major revision was made to the Pleasanton General
Plan in 1976; and
WHEREAS, subsequently, there have been numerous amendments to
that plan including cases GP-80-5 and GP-80-8, which
in and of themselves constituted redesignation of land
use for 42 separate locations within the planning area;
and
WHEREAS, many of these changes have left the zoning on the
properties out of conformance with the General
Plan; and
WHEREAS, State law requires conformance between zoning and the
General Plan, therefore, it will be necessary for the
City to initiate the rezoning of these properties; and
WHEREAS, since there are a number of properties involved, the
staff recommends that these rezonings be done gradually,
two or three at a time and scheduled for Planning
Commission meetings where the agenda appears to be
light; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission concurred with the report of
the City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
Section 1. Initiates a rezoning application for each of the
following three properties:
1. The 8.7 acre site immediately west of the Valley
Plaza Shopping Center. This property is currently
zoned R-1-6500 and is shown on the General Plan
as High Density Residential.
2. The approximately 27-1/2 acre site located on the
south side of Bernal Avenue extension between the
Southern Pacific Railroad tracks and Western
Pacific Railroad tracks. The northeastern approxi-
mately one-half of this area is within the City
and is zoned "O" (Office) and I-P (Industrial
Park) District. The remainder is unincorporated
County territory. The General Plan designates
this area as High Density Residential.
///
