Item 61 Staff Report PLANNING COMtdISSION August 12, 1981 SUBJECT: UP-81-21 APPLICANT: Pacific Telephone Company PURPOSE: Application for a conditional use permit to allow the expansion of the telephone building located at 120 Ray Street. The property is C-C (Central Commercial) District. ATTACHMENT: Exhibit A, Site Plan and Elevations Pacific Telephone Company wishes to expand their centrui mentce building located at 120 Ray Street. Public utility eq p buildings require use permits in the CforDasusecpermitcforcthise phone Company, therefore, is applying expansion. The existing building is 14,600 sq. ft. in size. The proponent proposes to construct a 4200 sq. ft. addition to the rear of the building. Parking to meet the requirements of the code would be constructed in conjunction with the addition. The initial environmental assessment done for this project showed that it would be a categorical exemption under CE4A. For this reason, no environmental document accompanies this case. Staff Recommendation: Pacific Telephone Company needs to expand their central office building in order to accommodate the increased telephone traffic in tkie Pleasanton area. There have been no problems with the use in its present location. For these reasons, the staff feels that all findings required for the granting of a use permit can be made in this case and, therefore, we recommend approval of case UP-81-21 subject to the following conditions: 1. That the development be substantially as shown on the site plan and elevations, Exhibit A, on file with the Planning Division. 2. That approval of this case is subject to approval of case Z-81-81 and any conditions which may be attached thereto by the Design Review Board. 3. That the developer submit a site development plan in accordance with the Survey Ordinance (Article 3, Chapter 3, Title II) and that these plans be approved by the City Engineer prior to the issuance of a building permit.
