PLANNING COMMISSION
CITY OF PLEASANTON
COUNTY OF ALAMEDA
STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION N0. 2688
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PLEASANTON DENYING CASE PUD-84-4-2M, APPLICATION OF
VALLEY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION FOR A MODIFICATION TO CASE
PUD-84-4
WHEREAS, Valley Medical Associates has applied for a major
modification to an approved development for a shopping
center/medical office complex for a new design and an
increase in size in the medical office of approximately
600 sq. ft. on an approximately 7.7 acre site located at
the southeast corner of the intersection of Santa Rita
Road and West Las Positas Boulevard immediately adjacent
to the Exxon station; and
WHEREAS, zoning for the property is PUD (Planned Unit
Development)-Commercial and Offices District; and
WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of August 14, 1985
the Planning Commission considered all public testimony,
relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City staff
concerning this application; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission agreed with the staff report
that the proposed building is strikingly designed and
can be appropriate for a medical office complex.
However, the building creates an overwhelming contrast
to the Spanish architecture of the adjoining center and
qas station. The scale and architecture of the proposal
is not suited for a small neighborhood commercial site.
If this project was approved, then the Phase II office
building could be similarly designed producing even a
starker contrast at the Meadow Plaza Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING:
Section 1. Denies Case PUD-84-4-2M, application of Valley Medical
Associates for a major modification to an approved
development for a shopping center/medical office complex
for a new design and an increase in size in the medical
office of approximately 600 sq. ft. on an approximately
7.7 acre site located at the southeast corner of the
intersection of Santa Rita Road and West Las Positas
Boulevard immediately adjacent to the Exxon station.
Section 2. This resolution shall become effective 15 days after
its passage and adoption unless an appeal has been
received prior to that time.
