PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON COUNTY OF ALAMEDA STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 2725 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING DENIAL OF AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING USE OF SKATEBOARD RAMPS IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS AS FILED UNDER CASE RZ-85-16 WHEREAS, on July 24, 1985, the Board of Adjustment granted a variance to allow a skateboard ramp to remain at 387 Ewing Drive. Although the user's neighbors were adamantly opposed to retention of the ramp the Board of Adjustment approved the variance in order to condition its use, hopefully to reduce its impact; and WHEREAS, when the use of the ramp continued to be bothersome after approval of the variance, the neighbors asked the City Council to ban skateboard ramps so no other neighborhood would be affected in like manner as theirs. The City Council directed staff to review this matter and propose modifications the Zoning ordinance to ban new skateboard ramps in residential districts; and WHEREAS, at their duly noticed public hearing of November 13, 1985, the Planning Commission considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits and recommendations of the City staff concerning this application; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission felt there are existing sufficient laws in the City of Pleasanton to control noise and public nuisance. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES THE FOLLOWING: Section 1. Recommends denial of Case RZ-85-16 which would ban skateboards in residential districts of the City of Pleasanton. Section 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
