2.29.010 Chapter 2.29 YOUTH COMMISSION Sections: 2.29.010 Commission Created 2.29.020 Duties 2.29.030 Memberships; Appointments 2.29.040 Term Of Membership 2.29.050 Maintenance Of Membership 2.29.060 Commissioner Vacancies 2.29.070 Organization 2.29.080 Meetings 2.29.010 Commission Created: There is created a youth commission (commission). (Ord. 1819 § 2, 2001) 2.29.020 Duties: A. The commission shall advise the city council on matters related to the youth of the community. B. The duties of the Pleasanton youth commission shall include the following: 1. Make recommendations to the city council regazding policies, services and issues related to the youth of the com- munity. 2. Act as the "voice" of the communi- ty. 3. Act as a communication liaison be- tween Pleasanton's youth community and the city council. 4. Reseazch the needs and interest of Pleasanton's youth. Promote an under- standing and appreciation of community affairs among the youth of Pleasanton. 5. Identify and report to the city coun- cil on youth needs and priorities in the city of Pleasanton and remain informed regazding the programs providing youth services to the community. 6. Research and formulate proposed policies, programs and services designed to meet the needs of the youth community in Pleasanton. 7. Review and evaluate requests re- ceived by the city for youth related poli- cies and services. 8. Represent the city and maintain liaison with the youth commissions in other cities and with youth related agen- cies in Pleasanton and other cities. (Ord. 1819 § 2, 2001) 2.29.030 Memberships; Appointments: A. The commission shall have eleven (11) regulaz commissioners and three (3) alternate commissioners all of whom shall be residents of the city. B. The eleven (11) youth commission- ers shall include: one student from Amador Valley high school, one student from Foothill high school, one student from Harvest Pazk middle school, one student from Pleasanton middle school, one student from Thomas S. Hart middle school, one student from Village high school, four (4) at-large student represen- tatives from grades eight (8) through twelve (12) and one adult commissioner shall be selected from the community at large. C. The two (2) alternate youth repre- sentatives shall be from grades eight (8) 28-3 (Pleasanton April 2001)
