20.08.120 <br />20.08.120 Division III Of Appendix <br />Chapter 34: <br />The following sections of division III <br />(repairs to buildings and structures <br />damaged by the occurrence of a natural <br />disaster) of appendix chapter 34 of the <br />California Building Standards Code, <br />2001 edition (24 CCR), and including <br />by reference the uniform building code, <br />are adopted: <br />Section 3419 -purpose; <br />Section 3420 -general; and <br />Section 3422 -nonstructural repairs <br />to light fixtures and suspended ceilings. <br />(Ord. 1903 § 1, 2004) <br />20.08.121 Structural Repairs: <br />Section 3421 (structural repairs) of <br />division III (repairs to buildings and <br />structures damaged by the occurrence <br />of a natural disaster) of appendix <br />chapter 34 of the California Building <br />Standards Code, 2001 edition (24 <br />CCR), and including by reference the <br />uniform building code, is adopted as <br />follows: <br />When the damage ratio does not <br />exceed 0.10 (10 percent), buildings <br />and structures, except essential ser- <br />vice facilities included as category I <br />buildings and structures in table <br />16-K, shall at a minimum be restored <br />to their pre-event condition. <br />When the damage ratio is greater <br />than 0.10 (10 percent) but less than <br />0.5 (50 percent), buildings and struc- <br />tures, except essential service facili- <br />ties included as category I buildings <br />and structures in table 16-K, shall <br />have the damaged structural members <br />including all critical ties and connec- <br />tions associated with the damaged <br />structural members, all structural <br />members supporting the damaged <br />members repaired and strengthened <br />to bring them into compliance with <br />the force levels and connection re- <br />quirements of the Pleasanton munici- <br />pal code. <br />This criteria shall apply to essential <br />service facilities when the damage <br />ratio is less than 0.3 (30 percent). <br />Exception: For buildings with rigid <br />diaphragms where the above-required <br />repair and strengthening increases the <br />rigidity of the resisting members, the <br />entire lateral-force-resisting system <br />of the building shall be investigated. <br />When, in the opinion of the building <br />official, an unsafe or adverse condi- <br />tion has been created as a result of <br />this increase in rigidity, the condition <br />shall be corrected. <br />When the damage ratio is greater <br />than 0.5 (50 percent), buildings and <br />structures, except essential service <br />facilities included as category I <br />buildings and structures in table <br />16-K, shall at a minimum have the <br />entire building or structure strength- <br />ened to comply with the force levels <br />and connection requirements of the <br />Pleasanton municipal code. This <br />criteria shall apply to essential ser- <br />vice facilities when the damage ratio <br />is greater than or equal to 0.30 (30 <br />percent). <br />The building official shall establish <br />damage ratios. <br />(Ord. 1903 § 1, 2004) <br />(Pleasanton December 2004) 704-18 <br />
