2.38.010 <br />Chapter 2.38 <br />HOUSING COMMISSION' <br />Sections: <br />2.38.010 Commission Created <br />2.38.020 Duties <br />2.38.030 Membership; <br /> Appointments; Voting <br />2.38.040 Term Of Membership <br />2.38.050 Maintenance Of <br /> Membership <br />2.38.060 Commissioner Vacancies <br />2.38.070 Organization <br />2.38.080 Meetings <br />2.38.010 Commission Created: <br />There is created a housing commission <br />("commission"). (Ord. 1819 § 1, 2001) <br />2.38.020 Duties: <br />A. The commission shall be respon- <br />sible for advising the city council on both <br />the affordable housing needs of the com- <br />munity and the methods for meeting these <br />needs. <br />B. The duties of the commission shall <br />include the following: <br />1. Initiate and pursue opportunities for <br />developing affordable housing within the <br />city. <br />2. Cooperate with the private housing <br />industry, city commissions and regional <br />agencies to produce new affordable hous- <br />ing and/or to maintain existing affordable <br />housing. <br />3. Make recommendations to the city <br />council and/or establish policies regazding <br />"` 1. Prior ordinance history: Ord. 1674, 1996; Ord. 1768, 1999. <br />affordable housing projects affiliated with <br />the city and the housing authority includ- <br />ing preference and eligibility criteria for <br />city assisted housing, informational docu- <br />ments, available grant applications, and <br />new affordable housing programs. <br />4. In cooperation with the human ser- <br />vices commission, review and make rec- <br />ommendations to the city council regard- <br />ing community development block grant <br />applications for capital improvement and <br />rehabilitation projects. <br />5. Coordinate the property and finan- <br />cial management and tenant related issues <br />at affordable housing projects under the <br />control of the city and/or the housing <br />authority of the city, including Ridge <br />View commons and Kottinger place. <br />6. Review and make recommendations <br />to the city council regazding the annual <br />operating budget for the city's lower <br />income housing fund. <br />7. Appoint the resident representatives <br />to the housing authority commission and <br />commission liaisons to affordable housing <br />projects. (Ord. 1819 § 1, 2001) <br />2.38.030 Membership; Appointments; <br />Voting: <br />A. The commission shall have five (5) <br />members, and one alternate, all of whom <br />shall be residents of the city. <br />B. The five (5) regulaz commissioners <br />and the one alternate commissioner shall <br />be selected from the community at lazge. <br />The regulaz commissioners and alternate <br />commissioner shall be appointed by the <br />mayor subject to the rat cation by the <br />city council, as provided in the adopted <br />city council resolution establishing proce- <br />36-1 (Pleasanton August 2004) <br />
