18.28.010 <br />Chapter 18.28 <br />A AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT <br />Sections: <br />18.28.010 Purpose <br />18.28.020 Required Conditions <br />18.28.030 Permitted Uses <br />18.28.040 Conditional Uses <br />18.28.045 Prohibited Uses <br />18.28.050 Off Street Parking <br />18.28.060 Off Street Loading <br />18.28.070 Signs <br />18.28.080 Design Review <br />18.28.010 Purpose: <br />In addition to the objectives pre- <br />scribed in section 18.04.010 of this <br />title, the A agricultural district is in- <br />cluded in this title to achieve the fol- <br />lowing purposes: <br />A. To permit the conduct of certain <br />agricultural pursuits on land in the city; <br />B. To prevent premature urban de- <br />velopment of certain lands which even- <br />tually will be appropriate for urban <br />uses, until the installation of drainage <br />works, streets, utilities, and community <br />facilities makes orderly development <br />possible; <br />C. To ensure adequate light, air and <br />privacy for each dwelling unit, and to <br />provide adequate separation between <br />dwellings and facilities for housing ani- <br />mals; <br />D. To permit certain nonagricultural <br />uses that are incompatible with inten- <br />sive urban development to locate in <br />undeveloped portions of the city. (Prior <br />Code § 2-6.00) <br />18.28.020 Required Conditions: <br />A. All uses shall comply with the <br />regulations prescribed in chapter 18.84 <br />of this title; <br />B. No use shall be permitted and no <br />process, equipment or materials shall be <br />employed which are found by the city <br />planning commission to be objection- <br />able to persons residing or working in <br />the vicinity or injurious to property <br />located in the vicinity by reason of <br />odor, fumes, dust, smoke, cinders, dirt, <br />refuse, water carried wastes, noise, <br />vibrations, illumination, glare, unsight- <br />liness or traffic, or to involve any haz- <br />ard of fire or explosion, provided that <br />permitted agricultural pursuits conduct- <br />ed in accord with good practice shall <br />not be deemed a nuisance. (Prior Code <br />§ 2-6.01) <br />18.28.030 Permitted Uses: <br />The following uses shall be permit- <br />ted in the A district: <br />A.One-family dwellings, second <br />units and farm employee housing for <br />persons employed on the premises. Not <br />more than one dwelling unit, other than <br />farm employee housing or a second <br />unit, shall be permitted on each site; <br />B. Field and truck crops and horti- <br />cultural specialties; <br />C. Home occupations conducted in <br />accord with the regulations prescribed <br />in chapter 18.104 of this title; <br />D. Livestock and poultry raising for <br />private, noncommercial use, and private <br />kennels and stables, provided that any <br />building or enclosure in which animals <br />or fowl, except household pets, are <br />contained shall be at least one hundred <br />501 (Pleasanton January 2004) <br />
