20.o8.os7 20.08.057 Section 2513.1 Amended - Shear-Resisting Construction With Wood Frame: Section 2513.1 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition (24 CCR), and including by reference the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edi- tion, is amended to read as follows: General. Cement plaster, gypsum lath and plaster, gypsum veneer base, gypsum sheathing board, and gypsum wallboard may be used, on wood studs for vertical diaphragms in single story R3 and U occupancies if applied in accordance with this sec- tion. Shear-resisting values shall not exceed those set forth in Table 25-I. The effects of overturning on vertical diaphragms shall be investigated in accordance with Section 160s.2.2. Any use of public property as may be outlined in this Chapter requires the builder to obtain an encroachment permit prior to such use and is subject to the approval of the Director of Public Works. The condition of the en- croachment permit in the public property may delete, add or modify any conditions in this Chapter. Buildings and structures to which additions, alterations or repairs are made shall comply with all the requirements of this Code for new facilities except as specifically pro- vided in this section. When an addition or alteration af- fects more than 20% of the existing suspended ceiling system, then the entire ceiling system within the im- provement area is to be designed for lateral design requirements of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition (24 CCR), adopting by reference the Uniform Building Stan- dard 25-2 Part III.
