The regular commissioners and the alternate commissioners shall be appoint- ed by the mayor subject to ratification by the city council, as provided , in the adopt- ed city resolution establishing procedures for appointments to boards and commis- sions. E. Commissioners shall be eligible to participate in all activities of the commis- sion except that the alternate commission- er shall vote only in the event of an ab- sence or conflict of interest of one of the regular youth commissioners. F. The alternate commissioners may serve as a voting member on any subcom- mittee of the commission. G. Commissioners shall be compensat- ed as established by city council resolu- tion. (Ord. 1853 § 1, 2002; Ord. 1819 § 2, 2001) 2.29.040 Term Of Membership: A. Regulaz youth commissioners shall be eligible to serve a maximum of six (6) years with three (3) terms of two (2) years. B. The regulaz adult commissioner shall be eligible to serve a maximum term of eight (8) years with two (2) 4-year terms. C. The alternate youth commissioners shall be eligible to serve two (2) yeaz terms and are not subject to a limit in the number of years served provided that their grade level does not exceed the twelfth grade. The alternate adult member shall be eligible to serve four (4) yeaz terms and is not subject to the limit in the number of yeazs served. D. The term of a commissioner shall be consistent with and subject to city council resolution concerning limiting service on boazds and commissions. (Ord. 1853 § 2, 2002; Ord. 1819 § 2, 2001) 2.29.050 Maintenance Of Membership: A. Persons appointed to the commis- sion shall continue to serve as members of the commission except when: 1. The commissioner's tenor of office on the commission expires; 2. The commissioner voluntarily re- signs from the commission; 3. The commissioner is absent from one-third ('/3) of the regulaz meetings within a six (6) month period as provided in subsection C of this section; 4. The commissioner fails to maintain a primary residence in the city; 5. The commissioner is employed by the city in a capacity related to the duties of the commission. B. The secretary of the commission shall inform the council when any of the above occurs. C. The following procedures shall apply to termination of office as a result of absences from commission meetings: 1. At the end of each six (6) month period, the secretary of the commission shall report the attendance record of each member of the commission to the city manager, who shall transmit the record to the city council. 2. The city manager shall notify, in writing, any commissioner who has been absent from one-third ('/3) or more of the regulaz meetings during the course of a (Pleasanton April 2003) 28-4
