Chairperson Arkin supported a dog park and believed that acreage could be found away <br />from children for this use. <br />The straw vote in favor of adding a dog park was 4-1, as follows: <br />Ayes.• Commissioners Arkin, Maas, Pearce, and Roberts. <br />Noes.• Commissioner Fox. <br />Eouestrian Trails <br />Commissioner Maas supported equestrian trails. <br />Commissioner Roberts believed that sports uses could scaze the horses and suggested <br />placing them on the west side of I-680. <br />Commissioner Fox agreed with Commissioner Roberts. <br />Mr. Rasmussen noted that a loop trail around the residential development on the west <br />side could accommodate equestrian trails. <br />Commissioner Pearce suggested that equestrian trails be connected with pedestrian trails. <br />Chairperson Arkin supported the equestrian trails. <br />The straw vote in favor of permitting equestrian trails west of I-680 was 3-2, as follows: <br />Ayes: Commissioners Arkin, Maas, and Pearce. <br />Noes.• Commissioners Fox and Roberts. <br />Art Master Plan <br />The Commissioners generally liked the idea of having an art master plan prepazed for the <br />Phase II Specific Plan area. <br />Commissioner Fox suggested that the Civic Arts Commission drive this issue with input <br />from the Planning Commission for future preparation. <br />Commissioner Maas would like to see some art pieces but was unsure about the language <br />provided in the staff report. <br />Commissioner Pearce supported an integrated arts master plan. <br />Commissioner Fox would like Subazea 7 to remain open for passive recreation. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Apri126, 2006 Page 9 of 22 <br />
