Box 520 <br />Pleasanton, CA g4566 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Bocian: <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: BUDGEl INFORMATION FOR PROPOSED ADDITIONAL <br /> LIBRARY SERVICES FOR FY lg8g/90 <br /> <br />The Pleasanton Library Advisory Commission at their March 9, 1989 meeting <br />considered additional library services they might wish to recommend that the <br />City Council fund. This document gives budget estimates based on their <br />recommendations for consideration by City Council. <br /> <br />The Commission's strongest recommendation is that the City Council fund 22 <br />additional hours of library service each week. This would continue the hours <br />funded by the City since the new Library opened in lg88. This is the highest <br />priority for the Commission. <br /> <br />The following are cost estimates to fund 22 hours of additional library <br />service each week for 12 months of the year. <br /> <br /> Salary & Employee Benefits $219,552 <br /> Communications 5,167 <br /> Janitorial & Utilities (67,B10) <br /> Total $157,109 <br /> <br />SALARY & EMPLOYEE BENEFITS COSTS lgBg/90:$219,552 <br /> <br />Estimated staffing costs for FY 1989/g0 for the 22 hours represent a 44.9% <br />increase over the current year amount. This is attributable to the increase <br />in staffing required to provide coverage in the larger facility, and, of <br />course, to the annualization of the 15 hours that were funded for only a part <br />of the year in FY lgB8/89. Personnel costs are based on a 5% anticipated wage <br />increase, as well as on an increase in the cost of employee benefits. <br />Included in the staffing costs are only the staff required for these 22 added <br />hours. No cost is included for either managerial staff at the Pleasanton <br />Library or for any administrative overhead. <br /> <br /> <br />
